This insistence that you have to like every single character of a certain type is really weird.

No, having a bunch of traits that you like in another character doesn't mean they are a) basically the same character, or b) that you must like them. There might be other things about the character that put you off, or the balance of the traits may make something you normally find appealing repelling instead.
