I did this as well.
With a TON of my old stuff. Trash bags filled so heavily I could hardly lift them.

My parents were pretty pissed, but they were all from a rather destructive time in my life that I didn't want to be reminded of, and I drew like 15 pictures on average a day, as it was.

Oh wow, I thought I was the only person who had to destroy things beyond all hope of recovery (this was before everyone had shredders) or my mother would fish them out of the garbage and give me a lecture about how I would one day regret throwing out my ~early writings.

I had a big hard drive crash some years ago - ironically, all the funny old writings got lost but the stuff I'd rather never see again (and have deleted by now) survived on a usb stick.
