the movie was so meh though

i mean i barely remember it but i remember thinking the kid actor had more emotional impact than the entirety of the adult depiction

(Anonymous) 2013-02-21 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
Oh no kids being real people with emotions

stop everything

call the papers

something is wrong here

you aren't supposed to get your humanity until the instant you turn 18, who dropped humanity all over this kid

IMHO, I can kinda see if someone'd be surprised at a kid being a better actor than hir adult colleagues- I can only speak from own experience, but most kid actors I've seen weren't really anything to write home about.

Google turns up nothing, so I guess my brief hope that this is an actual parody skit someone went out and made is dashed?

Anyway, I think this would be great and is a thing that should exist, along with CSI: Gotham.

This is the OP. The pic is from a scene in the director's cut, which has a whole 20-minute subplot involving a case they take on where Coolio is framed for murder. Which is very true to the comics, them taking on a hopeless case and it having something to do with Kingpin in the end.

Fuck S.H.I.E.L.D., Marvel needs to make a Daredevil TV show happen stat.

This movie gets so much shit, and some of it is definitely deserved, but the Director's Cut shows that Mark Steven Johnson and Ben Affleck actually made a pretty good movie, now if only Fox hadn't shat on it.

The regular movie sucked so bad nobody watched it. :P

I don't care what anyone says -- I will love the Daredevil movie until the day I die.

Not related to the movie, but I would definitely enjoy vignette comics featuring more of the superheroes' "day jobs," with no superhero-ness involved. Matt Murdoch and Jennifer Walters in litigation! I just find superheroes who haven't given up what they normally do just because they've acquired powers really interesting.

I fucking love this movie. Even the non-director's cut (which was indeed awesome). Objectively, it's kind of mediocre and meh, but it pushed all of my buttons in the right ways.

*high fives OP* THE DIRECTOR'S CUT IS REALLY GOOD AND I'LL FIGHT ANYBODY WHO SAYS OTHERWISE

(...granted I've misplaced my DVD of it and thus haven't seen it in a few years so a rewatch might be necessary to confirm its quality.)

"I'm Not Daredevil."

But seriously, makes me think of how everyone really really reallyreallyreally reeeeeeeeeallllly wanted a Gotham Central tv show. I've never understood why a network hasn't taken a chance with something like this--it wouldn't need nearly the special-effects budget, would be a good on-ramp for non-superhero fans, and heck, the whole mundane legal side of the worlds of Batman and Daredevil is a pretty nifty thing.

Heck, it's part of the reason I'm stoked for SHIELD.

That movie was balls, though.

It would make perfect sense for Daredevil to show up in any SHIELD show as Matt Murdock, lawyer who occasionally has to do arbitration involving building leases and whatnot. In the comics he once negotiated with a landlord on behalf of the Fantastic Four. Just having Ben Affleck and Jon Favreau cracking blind jokes would make my year.

I don't see them getting Affleck for it, but I could definitely see Matt Murdock at least getting a mention (possibly along with a line like, "keep an eye on him" or something punny).

(Anonymous) 2013-02-21 07:31 am (UTC)(link)
Affleck has been asked to return to the role at least twice, and adamantly refused, probably because the actual shoot in the terrible costume with painful wire-fu was so fucking awful. He wasn't particularly great as Murdock either, but whatever, he's a charming actor, and now I'm kinda attached to him as Murdock, and Jon Favreau got a lot more mileage out of Foggy Nelson than the material from the comics provided him with. No surprise then that he went on to direct a very funny Iron Man.
