After the recent thread about bras, I went to get a fitting. I went up from 36DD to 42DDD. I thank you all from the bottom of my boobs.

The saleslady at Lane Bryant had me stick out my arms and she measured under my boobs for the band size and around the biggest part for the cup size. Pretty sure most underwear type places do the same.

I'm not sure how she translated the measuring tape to cup size, so I wouldn't have figured it out at home.

Ah, I see. I only ask because I've done it myself with help of the internet, and I wasn't sure how accurate it is.

I checked out a couple web sites that people said were pretty accurate, and they rated me at 40J and 42J, so that was way off. I dunno.

Watching Double Divas has definitely opened my eyes to a new world of squished tits. (Did you know the reason your bra has three hooks is so that when it stretches out, you can tighten it? You're supposed to always hook the loosest set of hooks available! MY BOOBS HAVE BEEN SUFFERING NEEDLESSLY FOR YEARS!)

Three hooks is also for if you're between sizes like me. I have to wear D bras in one position and DD ones in another.

(And I tried self measuring and I'm having a lot trouble with the bust measurement. Do you lovely folks have any suggestions?)

Honestly, I'd really just suggest going and getting measured by a professional...

1. lay down between to chairs so your body is parallel to the floor and your boobs can hang down freely

2. message your back and sides to make sure your breast tissues are in your boobs

3. measure (and get someone you trust to help you if needed)

4. ???

5. PROFIT!

I have broken 8 bras since last January. And yes, I am wearing the right size - 40G. Currently my boobs are happy in my new ones, but it's only a matter of time before they unleash their power again.
