OP is somewhat friends with a fanfic author and finds her very attractive, but the secret, with said author's profile picture, made her really easy to identify.

It was on FF.net! But since OP mentioned her being attractive, I supposed it was some kind of evidence for the OP? But maybe it was just an avatar. I hope so.

No, I mean, I'm sure it WAS her picture, but what's the harm if she's happy sharing it? I mean, it wouldn't have been taken down if it were JUST her FFN name, and anyone looking at that sees the picture anyway?

Aah, ok, I see what you mean. Well, I'm not sure that she would have been happy to have her picture shared here, in this particular secret, without her consent. Usually secrets never single someone out to that extent, it's always a guessing game.

Maybe not, but the same way these things aren't supposed to single people out for hate, they shouldn't be singled out for "oh, this person is so hot I want them look at this shit I did to be close to them"

This happened to me a few years ago. It wasn't based on attraction, it was more like "I like your work a whole lot and I read your journal and I want to fix every problem you ever have." It was super creepy and I wish it had never been posted because it was a screencap of my (now deleted) LJ profile with my name, default user pic, and some personal info like birthday that was supposed to be only visible to friends. I didn't know about it (or this comm) for a few days, so by the time it was taken down at my request, pretty much anyone who would have seen it already had.
