Yeah, I was going to point out that the OP sounds like a "Cause justifies the means" sort of SJW type.

That said i would side eye an author if they would only support genderbend het versions of slash couples. If you don't like slash don't ship slash , but don't take aslash couple and make it "ungay".(Or people who make their bigotry known in author's notes like a DP fan I recall. On the other side of the coin I also side eye the people who yell at people who ship a het rival to their slash ship for being homophobic or act like hating their pet slash ship makes one homophobic.

I once saw a person's sig saying that if someone hated their hetalia slash ship then that means the person must drown puppies in acid. 0.o Even as a joke it wasn't funny. It just screamed "I can't stand people having opinions different from mine"
