Ooh, that sounds like an interesting idea. If someone wrote it, I'd definitely read it. And now I want it, too.

Don't be embarrassed of the Rumbelle, it is awesome! ;)

Once again, ICK!

This would make me very happy since they are my OTP on the show. I still have faith that something somehow will bring them back together. True love and all that crap....

I always assumed, it didn't work, because she reverted to her cursed self? Like it didn't work, when David and Mary Margareth kissed while still under the curse. Or even Snow and Charming, after she drank the potion to forget him.

(Also: I am ridiculously over-invested in this ship too. Especially considering how much of the actual storyline on the show I disliked...)

lol, that'd just feel very Doctor Who to me, what with the whole Amy and her ganger duplicate

As far as I know, the kiss pictured in the secret didn't have any effect because Rumpelstiltskin is more or less a human with magic in Storybrooke. He wouldn't show a visible change from scaly to human since he was already human. And obviously people who aren't the Dark One can do magic as well, like Regina, or have magic affect them, like Ruby. And the kiss in The Outsider didn't do anything because, like Snow after she took the potion in FTL, Belle didn't remember her true love.

As for the story idea, it sounds interesting, but I've heard similar ideas from people who didn't like that Belle told Rumpelstiltskin off for lying to her and asked him to stop killing people, and thought that her standing up to him meant that she didn't actually love him, because if she did, she wouldn't expect him to change. But if the story didn't go it that direction/have that justification behind it, I would read it.

I thought it's obvious that it didn't work because Rumple is still a coward and a magic-junkie. He can't love truely because he reflexively chooses power over love every time he's given a choice.

now that is a fic I could get behind for these two. That said, op, please think about how unhealthy that relationship is. Thanks.

(Anonymous) 2013-02-22 06:06 am (UTC)(link)
Er-not the OP, and I'm going to ignore that fandom has never been particularly inclined to only ship healthy relationships, but why do you see it as unhealthy? I think it can be sometimes, but I ship it anyway and my reasons never seem to line up with other people's. Then again, most of the people I've run into who complain about their being unhealthy either hate the ship, or hate the ship and ship one or both characters with someone else.

My reasons: the fact that Belle loves him despite his being a murderer, which is probably unhealthy by real world standards, but considering that even the heros have killed a lot of people, not as much of a deal breaker (oh dammit pun not intended) as it might be otherwise. And if you trot out Stockholm Syndrome, it's really not. Belle doesn't comply with Rumpelstiltskin's wishes because she wants to avoid being punished by him. Even in FTL, when he kicked her out, she let him know exactly what she thought of his behavior and that he was being a dick. To which his response was to stand there while she walked away. Most anyone else would have been turned into something small and easily squashed. In Storybrooke, when he kept her from contacting her father, she told him to fuck off. The unhealthiest thing about their relationship is that she functions as his moral compass. Their relationship isn't ideal, but they're both trying to make it work. (Or at least they were, magical amnesia aside.)

*slow clap* This is an awesome post, and you are awesome.

They're my OTP too btw.
