Because I accidentally a word or three, I want to just add that I thought this was one of the positive and beautiful aspects of "it has happened before and will happen again" motif of the series.

Battlestar Galactica 2003.

The man is Saul Tigh and the woman is Ellen Tigh. They're married.

I won't say more as I might spoil you by accident for elements of the series; I highly recommend watching it! :)

I'm pretty sure I'm just literally never going to get over my bitterness that she was the final Cylon. I wanted it to be Doc Cottle. It would have been so awesome if it had been Doc Cottle. :(

Also I pretty much hated both the Tighs even after that reveal, but I'm sure my bitterness did not help.

I sort of liked them a lot more before we learned they were Cylons. Especially on New Caprica, the scene where Tigh had to kill Helen was one of the scenes I got the most emotional about -- finding out she was a Cylon kinda cheapened the feel of that scene considerably. The man had to kill his wife because she was a spy and working with the enemy but he still loved her and just AUGGHhhh it was SO SAD

I didn't feel it cheapened the matter for her to be a Cylon, because she was able to show off the person she really was, rather than a persona influenced by Cavil's meddlings. It really increased my respect for Ellen to see her verbally duelling with Cavil, and then reconnecting with Saul. :)

I always adored Ellen and Saul, but the married throughout what were essentially multiple lives was just icing on the cake. They are so wonderfully self-destructive and awful. ;A;

They've been through a lot and I love that they stuck it out together.

Even though I'm sad about baby Liam. :'(

They're probably my two favorite characters of the whole thing. I loved the reveal that Ellen is the final Cylon. I loved the friendship between Saul and Bill. I love that Ellen/Saul is this epic relationship, and I love that they're both fucked up and damaged, and I think what I love most of all is that the two most central and important erotic relationships of the whole series are between two middle-aged couples. Love love love that.
