Is it even sexist? Liking a guy protecting a girl isn't any more sexist than liking male-dom BDSM. It's your personal sexual preferences, you can't really turn them off and they're harmless.

How is this sexist? Saying that every relationship would be like this because Manly Men are Manly and women are so frail would be sexist; saying you like this particular dynamic in fictional relationships (or even irl relationships, if you were just talking about your own relationship) isn't.

I think "so sexist!" is a kneejerk reaction to this based on the fact that for a long time this was how everyone thought relationships were Supposed To Be and a woman who would rather stand up for herself or for her partner, or a man who wanted to be protected, or something like that was Doing It Wrong. But it's the imposition of those rules, and the reasons they're imposed, that are sexist, not the rules themselves. It's just one variation on relationship dynamics.
