OP
(Anonymous) 2013-02-22 02:12 am (UTC)(link)What I meant to say was that, in the field I'm pursuing, recruitment is aimed toward computer science people, systems information, stuff like that. It's a whole big scary new world that is aggressively being exploited, and people are being hired to deal with that.
My skill sets are more geared toward dealing with people. Languages, cultural analysis, interpersonal stuff. And the willingness to do things and go places other people don't want to because it's too dangerous, doesn't pay all that well, whatever.
For a while, there's been this cognitive shift toward hoovering up comp sci people and bettering cyber and tech systems, and ignoring the human equation. I've been feeling a little worried/frantic I'd never get a chance to get into the field I want.
It just happened that there's been a murmurs of the need for fresh blood with the types of skills I have, at the same time Skyfall was released. Seeing Bond needed was a confidence booster, is all.
