I once had to collaborate on a project with two guys, one of whom turned up to every single meeting high as a kite. Or sometimes drunk, but usually high, and was a big loud whiny slacker asshole about his share of the work.

I had no idea how to deal with him, but the other guy who I was collaborating with had this great way of laying on this awesome contemptuous passive-aggressiveness, with these long faintly-disgusted silences whenever High Guy said something stupid or douchey, to make him uncomfortable. And staring at High Guy for a long time like he thought he was a complete moron. And repeating things to him lots of times in a faux-polite way like he was talking to a little kid. And kind of just talking to me while totally ignoring him like he wasn't there when High Guy was especially dickish. High Guy eventually got so embarrassed about it he stopped getting high and being as obnoxious.

If you think you can pull that strategy off, I'd recommend it. Shame is super-useful sometimes. If not, well, I'd just be brutally honest with him about it, as long as you know the other people in your group will back you up.
