I know that feel. OP, if you haven't watched the fifth Doctor's serial "Caves of Androzani," you should. There's a bit in the second part where one of the antagonists is being really creepy to Peri and the Doctor keeps putting himself between them and trying to make the creeper back off. It made me all sorts of happy.
