(Anonymous) 2013-02-24 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)For example, there's a common trope in comicsverse Avengers fanfic about Steve Rogers being in love with both Tony Stark (the team sponsor) and Iron Man (his teammate), unaware that they are actually the same person.
There's also lots of fic in Doctor Who of time travel being used so that the Doctor can interact with himself in the past, and other characters may or may not be involved with causing porn to ensue so they can have two instances of the same character at the same time.
There's also a lot of this going on with Batman/Bruce Wayne when paired up with Superman/Clark Kent or Catwoman/Selina Kyle, where the different identities are treated by the characters like separate people who are not responsible for the other identity's actions or whose actions are not originating from the same person as the the other identity's actions, even though the characters in question usually kinda-sort-know they're kinda-sorta-but-not-really-kidding themselves.
