Yup. That is the original saying. The other is more popularized these days, esp. due to that metalhead song, but another think is the original saying. Want to read more about it? You might want to start here: http://painintheenglish.com/case/4970

Another think predates to 1898; another thing to 1919 but wasn't popular until relatively recently, I guess you could say.

I just can't stand it. With another thing, you're essentially saying: If you thinG that, you've got another thinG coming. Because the another is referencing/calling back to thinG (think). Like for example, heres' a cookie. Have another. Another is referencing cookie.
