I have a complex relationship with Seth McFarlane's brand of comedy.

He's like that friend who I kind of hate sometimes and I'm embarrassed to admit that he's my friend but also I think sometimes he says smart stuff and has the capacity to be funny so I keep thinking about not inviting him to stuff anymore, but I never really do.

A lot of his comments tonight were very inappropriate though. I kept being like "Seth. . .stop. Just stop. No."

And there's nothing wrong with that. Probably makes me the weaker person actually for putting up with someone else's shit <3 You stand your ground. I often care less about stuff than I probably should and overlook more than I should.

And holy wow, I was expecting it be some throw away line that a few people were taking too seriously, but man, those aren't even funny; they're just offensive.

Yeah and that was within like the first half hour, that wasn't even after the Oscars were done. It was kind of. . .bad. Idk I'm sure if you went to some news sites you could get an extended list of all of the things he just shouldn't have said :P

And agree with you on Seth being that one friend! He can be witty, but sometimes it's "really?" I feel like offensive humor is a tight rope to walk, though.

It is a very tight rope to walk. There are some people who are very good at the irony aspect (such as Bo Burnham and the South Park guys) some with middling talent at it (such as Seth McFarlane, like I think American Dad has become pretty good show but Family Guy's commentary is pretty weak nowadays). I watch it anyway though sometimes when I do homework.) and like Daniel Tosh just doesn't know what irony is and he's like "hey dead babies are hilarious what irony."

But anyway yeah Seth clearly knows there is a line but sometimes he's more comfortable crossing it than he should be and sometimes he tries to be ironic and fails. But I do think his stuff has value sometimes, and he can be a pretty funny guy.

Eh. I thought his CB/Rhianna joke was funny. She's a fucking idiot for going back with him after what he did to her. If she doesn't care, why should anyone else?
