I know right! I've been a fan of Kankurou ever since I got into Naruto. He's an awesome character.
It kind of made me go "Blargh!" when all of the sudden, after the ep where he's shirtless, 10,000 new fangirls popped up screaming "zomg he's so hawt!"

ABDUL I LOVE YOUUUUUUU

Oh, that might be it. XD I'm only in one (multi-fandom) RP, and while the Bleach players there are very much into their fandom, they're all super nice and wonderful and made me want to finally sit down and read the manga in the first place.

8. Whoa, can anyone point me to the artist of this picture? Because goddamn that's hilarious. ♥

19. I am so very curious about what fandom this relates to.

22. Musicals FTW.

27. Whoa there, Zetsubou is freaking hilarious. I don't find Gintama or Excel Saga as funny, but they still make me laugh. Opinions are opinions, but I question your sense of humor. D=

28. BECAUSE KINO OF KINO NO TABI IS THE HOTEST THING I'VE EVER SET EYES ON. It doesn't matter that she's a literary character to me. Call me pathetic or sad, but I can't help how I feel. =3 That said, I really don't know why there are so many lesbians or bi girls in fandom... I may be madly in love with a girl, but it's the only girl I like. Hmmm. =\

3.

11. I seriously want to carve those faces into the tomatoes in my neighbors yard now. Thank you so much. -.0;;;

23. 'Bout time someone took a stand for us asexuals. ...I want to do a Haruhi cosplay now. Damn. XD

Woo hoo THREE Tenipuri secrets in a single round! :D

2. I love Seigaku to death, but I can't say I disagree. Man, is Rikkaidai awesome, and specially Renji. ^_^

4. I've had my round of Tenipuri dreams as well, and... well, yeah, different strokes some say. :)

6. You could try giving your friend hints abut that gradually and then give her more direct concrit. If you word it right, you may be able to help...

I never thought about it like that before, but you're totally right. :\

16 clarification: ...and by "put SO MUCH STOCK in being the best writer of trendy buttsex pairings and keeping their fandom pure and clean of what they personally hate" I mean "being snotty little trend whores who put down other people just to make themselves bigger".

But I hate people like that no matter what they're dabbling in, so...

And I love Wolf so much, but the other fan... ugh. I love Wolf, but she wants to be Wolf, and writes fic where Wolf is nearly raped by Ocelot and is saved by handsome caring Liquid and I can't stand it.

... And my standards are so low, and my craving so deep, that I still read it. DAMN ME.

Happy Tennis no Oujisama day, everyone!

And oooh, the Gintama oppositions. How interesting that people's opinions can differ so greatly. :S

But for 27, the series' you found unfunny were meant to be humorous for people who live in Japan/understand the culture/speak the language (especially Excel Saga and SZS). Why are there so many people who can't understand this?

Holy Tenipuri secrets day, Batman!

YAY PRINCE OF TENNIS REPRESENT

Uhm.

2: half of Seigaku gets up my nose sometimes too, but main characters are just like that sometimes :\b and also, sometimes they're just really entertaining, which totally makes up for the degree of annoying.

4: ... that's sort of awesome.

9: I agreeeeeeeee. I get requests for fanfic from friends that I sometimes happen to do, and those are free and I enjoy doing 'em for people. But fanartists seem to make a pretty penny out of it, and I dunno. Does that make writing the 'lesser art' or something? But then. Drawing is hard. :|b

[identity profile] eli-artemisia.livejournal.com 2007-09-05 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
15. I used to feel that way. I was really resentful about ittoo, because it felt like people wanted any excuse to have characters fuck each other and that gen stories weren't appreciated. I don't like sex being forced into a story, or when authors feel pressured to write sex because that's what so many people in fandom seem obsessed with, but sex can also intensify the relationship between the characters and add a lot more to a fic, because hey, people have sex. I still sometimes feel like people focus too much on porn, but not all stories with explicit content are for the sake of smut, and I know certain authors would be offended if you were to dismiss their stories as 'smut' stories. It's all about balance :P

28. LOL! I had the same reaction you did when I realized how many people in my fandom are gay or bi. I sometimes wonder if I would be as comfortable about my own sexuality if it weren't for fandom. People seem very open-minded here, and I haven't experienced any prejudice regarding my sexuality. It's so strange when I started noticing people's reactions outside of fandom, because I'm so accustom to everyone being okay with it, the idea of people being not-okay seemed so...out there XD No one's been hostile though. Unless you consider being told homosexuality is a disease and unnatural 'hostile'

[identity profile] chronophobe.livejournal.com 2007-09-05 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I think the "lesbians" in fandom are either:
A) Actually 15-year old girls who say they are lesbians because boys don't like them enough / still have cooties.
B) Are in fandom because they are lesbians and fandom is generally more open with that.
or
C) Are "bi" because they are more open-minded because of fandom.

Also, yes, most of the ones I know tend to be "asexual" or girls who think they are really boys... e_e

Not hostile, just retarded. :D

28. I've wondered about that too! I have also noticed that most girls in fandom like androgynous men, which seems to be linked, though I could be wrong.

I dunno, in general I find girls in fandoms to be odd. They seem to obsess over characters more than men do. :x

I figured as much, judging from your awesome Parano icon and all XD

Every now and then I regret not going with a more unique username, but running into a fellow fan like this makes me very glad that I was kinda unimaginative. So, in closing, you totally win too ♡

9 I've never heard of anyone commissioning writing anywhere. Granted, I do agree in the sense that if anyone commissioned me for fanart, I'd be a little wary, because I don't know if that's even legal!

16 I will admit that I am completely worthless offline. But god damn, people online are so much cooler than people offline.

Many of them seem to want to dominate large-scale plots, and do silly things that {to me} scream 'attention whore.' It's not a problem with all the Bleach RPers I've ever seen. I'm even pretty good friends with some of them. But it seems to be a strange overall trend, one I don't see in many other fandoms. Sort of like 'my fandom is what's in fashion right now, so your characters get to care about my character's plot.' I don't think it's the size of the fandom, either. I don't see this trend with other fandoms that are still in fashion, like Full Metal Alchemist.

I saw someone in a community getting bullied into sending in a roleplay application for a Bleach character a while back, and that really inspired the secret. I'm sure it's just a few Bleach RPers giving the larger group a bad name, but some of my friends are starting to resent them all a bit for it.
