27 - While I do understand and respect that you have your own opinion about what is and isn't humorous, I can't make myself fully accept your opinion without knowing or watching what you consider funny. Go figure. ;/

well it's like this. everyone seems to be thinking that it's because I don't understand the cultural references, but it's not that I don't understand them, it's that I don't find it funny. of course the circle will continue and they will then say, "well if you don't find it funny, then you don't really understand it." But think about it. There are things in American culture that you understand, and just don't find funny. Like oh...American Dad. It's in the same vein of comedy as The Simpsons, Futurama, and Family Guy but it's incredibly UNfunny.

as for anime shows *I* think are funny: Ouran, FMP Fumoffu, Jungle Wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu, Gurren Lagann, Damekko Doubutsu, Descendants of Darkness (even though this doesn't really parody, I love doing it myself, especially while watching it in English lol), and Papuwa. What does that say about me? Hmmm, probably that I have a damn awesome sense of humor. ;P

Ouran was funny to me, as was Fumoffu. I haven't seen much of Guu but what I have I liked. I haven't watched Gurren Lagann nor do I have any interest in it, heh. And I can't say anything about the last three series because I've never seen them.

Well considering I agree with you on some of the anime you've watched, but I'm afraid I still have to say my opinion feels that Gintama is funnier than Ouran or Fumoffu. But to each his/her own, I guess. ;P

I'll try to say this the best way I can. I'm sometimes horrible at explaining things, haha.

While we admit that Ouran and Fumoffu are funny series in themselves, they are limited by their humor as well. Ouran, for example, has to keep a good portion of its humor romance-based because it's basically a romantic-comedy show. The same could be said about Fumoffu, except instead of romance most of its jokes need a military base to them.

I feel Gintama transcends this because its humor isn't related to one single category, like the military or romance. Because of this it has a much larger opportunity to use anything as its basis for humor.

in essence, you don't find slapstick humor funny. not a thing wrong with it.

I found Excel Saga unfunny and Fumoffu hysterically funny.

you don't owe anyone any reason or defensive if something isn't funny to you nor is there anything wrong or defective with you if you don't.

yes, thank you, that was the word I was looking for! Slapstick! Like ...roger rabbit slapstick or looney tunes slapstick- I didn't really like either as a kid, guess things haven't changed much aha.

Calm down. :P I asked to satisfy my curiousity as to what she considered funny among anime series. If you took what I said to her as a harsh attack against her for having a different opinion then you severely misunderstood me.
