Well, she's biologically a girl, despite not really caring what people think of her as (her dad's a cross dresser), but she's still considered "the girl" by a decent amount of the fandom I've had exposure to.

Sometimes I really do curse the English language for not having a gender-neutral pronoun... or one that doesn't imply non-sentience, anyway.

that's why people make them up. I've heard "hir" and "ze" although, I have a friend that is completely out of the gender binary, and for pronoun uses a short version of the name tay (my friend) added after finally getting through the burocracy. I also know someone else, that we just call "puppy", mostly because of the IRC screen name :P
