I can't wait for this storyline next series.

I wonder if she's going to full on have an affair and if it'll become a scandal? It'd be an interesting way for the show to echo in some way what happened with Mary when Edith wrote the letter to the Turkish embassy.

Yeah, this. It is one of a few storylines that cheer me up in the last episodes. Besides, I'm glad for Charles Edwards; he's finally getting a major film role after Murder Rooms. OK, Holy Flying Circus was also awesome, but he totally deserves his role in the Downton project.

You know there's fanfic about it? :'D Although it's not very good, I think this becomes one of the official fandom theories.

It does sound cool (plotwise) and even plausible, but I absolutely do not believe that the creators will go for anything like this.

I've been wondering whether this will be the case, but I figure if Edith could find out on her own that he was married then she could find a way to confirm that his wife was really in an asylum.

I figure the wife is crazy and in an asylum, but she'll die & the guy will happily report that they can be together. They plan to get married, Edith will once again make it just to the altar, only to have the police come in and arrest her fiance for the murder of his wife.

Cue more dreadful jail sequences. Ugh.

I don't even care about the ship that much, but I swear to God. If I have to spend another season sitting through boring ass jail scenes, well... in the words of O'Brien.

I feel like he's lying about his wife. But maybe she'll get a bigger focus next season, and his wife will die in the asylum (if he's telling the truth, it's not an uncommon thing...) and she'll finally get some happiness before season 5, when she'll get pregnant and one of them will die after the baby is born.

Because no one can have two parents on this freaking show, Christ almighty.
