What is this show or movie about, and why should I watch it?

It's a British series from the late '80s about an family of West End actors in the 1920s and '30s. Charles Brett and his wife Lydia are some of the finest English stage actors of their generation; and they have 5 children all involved in the theatre, except the eldest daughter. Charles is himself the son of actors, who appear in a few episodes. Edwin and Martha are twins- Edwin becomes a movie star, first in silents then in early talkies. The younger son, Thomas, is a playwright, and a fairly daring one. You should probably not ship the twins, I'm just weird.

It was created by Rosemary Anne Sisson, one of the writers from the original Upstairs Downstairs- and the Bretts' staff are also recurring characters with their own subplots.

My mom first saw the show when she was living in the UK and it was first airing. Last year we got it all on dvd from netflix (I don't know if it's streaming; probably not) and it's quite good. Martha gets all the best lines. And I've always liked Barbara Murray (Lydia) ever since I saw her as Madame Max in The Pallisers.

I know how it feels. And I'm very sorry!
Unfortunately, I only ever watch something because I get interested in it. I feel like this could be a nice thing, but I'm not attracted enough to go and actually see it. Perhaps you'd write something you personally like about it? Then there's a possibility of me watching it and then writing fic. Depends on my feelings regarding the canon.

tbh it's more the graphic design of the secret than the contents; the words are readable, but they sort of fade into the background picture

it's way too easy to scroll past, since there's nothing eye-catching about the secret

I'm not familiar with this but I kind of wish there was canonical consensual incest in a couple of my fandoms. Is that horrible?
