Games you never finished.

Any games you started and never finished? Why didn't you finish them?

I never finished Final Fantasy III (DS version). It just didn't keep my interest all that much, and when I accidentally saved over my game, I couldn't bring myself to care enough to restart from scratch.

I stop playing a lot of games around the final 5% of the story/gameplay. It's not a conscious thing, but rather I think part of me doesn't want the game to end, so I leave it hanging in a sort of twisted Schrodinger's Narrative.

As for other games that don't fit that pattern... Ocarina of Time. I got to the Water Temple after Link's an adult and all that, except I think I missed the blue clothes so I kept drowning, and then something glitched and all the save files on the cartridge got erased. I just stared at the title screen and was like "...I'm done."

Similar thing happened with Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, except my DS was stolen, so playing it meant both buying the game again and playing through all of Sora's side again since I was already a quarter of the way through Riku's side.

Boktai 2--not exactly my style of game combined with the whole sun sensor thing made it really annoying to play and I never made it into the real first dungeon.

Pokemon Conquest, which felt to me like a really, really watered-down strategy game. The story wasn't enough to hold me through the shallow gameplay.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Sky, due to the sheer frustration of the hand-holding throughout the story to where I played with no end in sight.

Luminous Arc, which was amazingly over the top and cliche anime even for me. Plus it again felt like a shallow strategy game to me. I think Fire Emblem spoiled me for most other similar games.

Rockman EXE 4.5, due to the fact it's entirely in Japanese, I couldn't read it, and the novelty of operating other Navis than Mega Man wore off pretty fast since they all operated pretty much the same in that game.

There's a fair few more, but those stand out because I really, really wanted to like them.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, for the classic Nintendo.

Too goddamn hard. But one day, ONE DAY...!

Pretty much every game I've ever played aside from Kirby's Dreamland for the Gameboy, the original Legend of Zelda and Radiant Historia. And I supposed Rune Factory Frontier -- though I never finished the last dungeon or had children, I did beat the main storyline

Seriously, I've played a ton of games but I've never finished any of them

All of the KH games I have so far (1, 2, CoM, and 358/2), but I'm actually trying to finish them now.

All the Pokemon games I've ever owned except for my very first copy of Red, but I only beat that because a friend of mine got me the glitched level 99 Snorlax and I just steamrolled the Elite 4 with it.

There are plenty of games I've never finished. Either they just get too hard and I lose interest, or I get distracted by real life and never go back to it. /sigh

FFXII. Barely finished the first few hours before I got sick of playing the same damned emo kid and his childhood friend/future love interest I always seem to play in these games.

A bunch of Zelda games, mostly because I lost access to the console I was playing on, or lost my save file on my roms when I got a new hard drive...I stopped playing Wind Waker before that happened though because the sailing-around-getting-Triforce-bits was so freaking boring...I'll finish it eventually. One of my life goals is to beat every Zelda game.

Also pretty much every Mario game I've ever played because I have a short attention span for platformers.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. To be fair, I reached the final boss, but by then I was so frustrated with the horrible control system, I just couldn't stomach any more flailing the Wiimote around and blindly hoping the sword moved in the right direction.

Valkyrie Profile: Silmeria. Again, I reached the final boss, but either I was underpowered or had a stupid strategy, because I spent a whole hour chipping away at his health before I died. So I ragequit for a while, and then my ex borrowed the game for a few months, and by then I'd forgotten the entire battle system and moved on to something else.

Golden Sun: Dark Dawn. Because my DS is broken and it doesn't feel worthwhile buying a replacement.

Chrono Trigger. I love that game so much but the laptop I had it on died on me, and I haven't picked it up since.

And also Xenogears because I played it like a dumbass and got myself stuck on one of the boss battles.

Golden Sun: The lost age, I restarted the game several times and tried to finish it, but they never seem to hold my interest. My save file is just after Felix and Isaac's groups reunite.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. I wanted to try and play some non-rpg games and bought this and the second game in a pack. Honestly I couldn't get into it at all, the combat is just you hiding behind a rock while a bunch of black dudes scream vulgarities at you and shoot. Playing it is torture.

There's more but those in particular make me feel a little guilty.

I never finished Final Fantasy 8 because my brother lent the discs to a friend. Then, when we got those back, I found out that something fucked up the memory card with my game saved on it.

I didn't feel like playing all the way up to the point where I left off, so I just gave up.

I still haven't finished that game, hahahaha XD

I must admit I have a lot of unfinished games in my backlog. It can take me years to finish a game if it's really long.

The game that stands out most in my mind tho is Final Fantasy XII. I want to finish the game. I have played to the middle of the game or more twice, but I can't seem to plow through anymore. I like the game too. I don't know what is wrong with me :/

I've said this before but I'll say it again: FFXIII. I got frustrated with farming XP (I thought I needed to level up for future bosses) and just quit. Meant to come back, never did.

Half my PS3 games, actually. Infamous and Yakuza, too.

I tend to beat most my 360 games, but I never finished FEAR. I was awful at that game for whatever reason and got tired of it. Didn't finish Star Wars: The Force Unleashed because of that terrible section where you have to use the force on the Star Destroyer. Never had I wanted to throw a controller before, but that game was the only one I've ever rage-quit from.

I also still haven't beat New Vegas, but my interest in Bethesda games comes and goes, so I will. One day. (Same for Skyrim.)

pretty much 80% of my games. I keep buying more when I still have fifty left to finish, so then I start a new game and forget about the others and suddenly I realized I forgot what was going on/the controls of the game and I'm a day or two's worth of playing in and don't feel like starting over so I just leave it until I feel motivated to try again. Happens every time

Infamous. Because the main character bored me. To. Fucking. Tears. Which is a shame because the powers are really awesome to use but ugh no, not putting up with the blandest main character of all time.

Also never finished a Final Fantasy game because they're just too long for me.

Final Fantasy IV for the DS. I got to near the end and got to a part where I needed to level grind just a bit more and I ended up just setting it aside and never picked it back up.

Anything Kingdom Hearts I've played (so far Chain of Memories, 365/2 and Dream Drop Distance). I always get to almost the last boss and start having trouble and then end up buying a different game while I'm stuck and end up focusing on that game instead and just never go back to the old one. I really should probably just stop buying Kingdom Hearts games, I think ^_^;;

SMT Nocturne. One of my favorites, but there's lots to do and I didn't want it to end, haha.

Devil May Cry 4: I never beat the final boss.

Metal Gear Solid 3, got one hour in.

Final Fantasy VIII, I never made it out of disc 2.

Xenosaga Episode 2. I forget why I stopped.

And Borderlands 2 because its boring solo and no one else plays it anymore.

Fallout 3, I fucked up my character I think.

Legend of Zelda, Link to the Past, and Link's Awakening. I suck so much at 2D gaming that it's a little comical. Ocarina of Time's Water Temple? No problem. Skyward Sword's Silent Realms? I can manage it. Getting to the FIRST DUNGEON in LoZ without dying? NOPE.JPG

And as mentioned above, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon - Explorers of Time. "Are we up to the plot yet? Nope. Are we up to the plot yet? Nope. WHEN DO WE GET TO THE FUCKING PLOT. Fuck this, I'm gonna grind for Red in HeartGold instead..."

Well, all the Final Fantasy game I play to a point, put down for a long time, and then pick up and finish months later.

As for games I've dropped completely? Arkham City. I was really losing interest when I went underground and found myself in Bioshock, so when the game erased my save right at the start of the second Catwoman section I just said "fuck it" and walked away.

Never finished Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, despite loving the hell out of it as a teenager, because my PS2 died while I was stuck at one part, but I got myself the PC version and I'm soon to amend that error. (Along with the sequel, and probably Defiance if I like that one.)

Other current unfinished games I only recently started (got a large influx of stuff from Steam sales) and will probably finish within a year or two.

I still haven't Finished Final fantasy III for the DS. I left it for quite a while, then started again, determined to finish. Then when I was on the way to the final boss (and everyone was recently healed and at full strength) the party got finished off by a Green Dragon, so I put it down in disgust and haven't picked it back up since.

I should probably give it another go sometime.

Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness

Because the controls sucked!

Currently working my way through Assassin's Creed 2, Portal, Limbo and Qube, and I'm planning to finish them :)

I stopped playing Final Fantasy IX after the forest-turning-into-stone part because the PSone I had broke. That was several years ago. But I'll play this game after finishing FFV on emulator.

I stopped playing Kingdom Hearts 2 during the Sephiroth superboss meeting. I don't have the ability to smash the joystick button, he's too strong for me! (And that's why I hate Sephiroth.) I haven't had the time to replay it again.

Also, I will never finish Digimon World 1 and 2.... :/
