Not getting why is fine, but the rest of your speculation is judgmental to the max. You're basically saying "here, I'm going to try to cure you of liking the wrong people by insulting your intellingence and belittling you for it."

People who are attracted to these characters aren't more likely to end up being battered. But the ones who do end up in a bad relationship (and it can happen to anybody) have to deal with exactly this form of victim-blaming. It gets layered on top of all the other reasons why a person in that position will reproach themselves for being stupid: what if I brought this on myself by fantasizing about Phantom/Chrinstine? They can't know about all the people who ship exactly what they shipped and weren't ever victimized, because it only occurs to us that *this needs to be said* when people go around blithely asserting the opposite. Please consider that you're making it harder for people to put the blame for abuse where it belongs.

This being said, you totally missed my point.
OP says their fantasy shipping type may be what's stopping them from finding love IRL. I meant to jokingly point out that if they want to find that sort of "love", the world is full of it. But that they're probably better off without looking for it.
And I assume from the wording that while OP fantasize about it, they also know it's a bad, bad idea IRL and that's why it gets in the way of them finding love. Which is pretty smart.

Fantasizing is fine. Acting on it if you're aware it's stupid and dangerous? Well, it's stupid. Sometimes it's fun to be stupid. Sometimes not.
