to the glorious times when we'd get daily secrets about ppl saying they were sociopaths just like sherlock, about how they took pleasure toying with their friends & fam, how they'd been diagnosed irl by a real mental health professional - it was so gr8 <33

2 or so years ago, maybe, idk.

eta: OKAY! i was so nostalgic that i actually went to google. turns out it wasn't even that long ago since it last happened - http://fandomsecrets.livejournal.com/878016.html?thread=540796608#t540796608

such outstanding quality, i owe so much to this fandom wrt to entertainment. delightful & colorful individuals, your favorite fandom could never.

Thanks for linking to that thread - it's glorious indeed, and makes me grateful I'm no longer a moody little teenager trying to seem edgy and different. (And thank bejeezus that by the time I was thin enough for Hot Topic clothes I no longer wanted to stray within a hundred yards of the store!)

The more mentally aware people are criminally asymptomatic so... yes? Congrats? You're normal in terms of this world? Most people with a clear psycho-pass are a mess in that universe.

Akane is most likely asymptomatic and look at her. Bitch is the only one with her shit together in that show.

@People in this thread, and PP fandom in general.

Where did this idea that the criminally asympotmatic are sociopaths come from.

This is both the most boring possible interpretation, and completely at odds with what the series lays out. We see at least two judged by sybil, and killed.

And Akane is obviously one of them as well.

The better interpretation, which follows, and is discussed in that scene is that they follow in the vein of the ubermensch (as in the philosophical usage, not general). It's even an easy reading to make of a lot of Philip K Dicks works.

This. As I commented above, the criminally asymptomatic are more mentally sound, and as Akane is very obviously asymptomatic, being asymptomatic =/= proof that you are a sociopath.
