I really like Tucson and I don't think it's a terrible idea to move there! There's lots of stuff to do, especially if you like hiking and biking and things. It's really hot though, and the public transport system is kind of dumb.

Well, actually everything related to transport is kind of dumb in Tucson. They're redoing the freeway for the second time this decade, which annoys me to no end.

Yep. Apparently a lot of overpasses are getting replaced. That sound you hear is my teeth grinding.

I'm really glad I'm not living there anymore. Except I'm living in Dallas now so it's actually worse. Texas does this weird thing where they stack overpasses on top of each other. It makes driving with GPS really fun because the GPS can't tell which freeway you're on. If they start replacing overpasses, I'm moving away.

The whole time I was in Tucson, I couldn't figure out why they did all that work east of Tucson. Mescal Road I think it was? It was about halfway between Tucson and Benson and there was absolutely nothing there. The contractors screwed something up with redirecting traffic about two years ago and a worker was hit and killed by a car. But when they finished they had a very decorative overpass that led to a dead end to the north and a gravel pit to the south.

I actually like that Dallas (or really, Texas in general) doesn't do cloverleaves, because I hate cloverleaves. Having to merge at low speeds hurts me in my very soul. /dramatic sobbing They do have their uses though.

Oh Lord, that construction is still going on I think. I have no idea what it's all about, but it's such a pain to go through that area! At least it looks like it's mostly done.

I'm a fan of rapid acceleration and drive a V8 so I never minded the cloverleaves :) Sure it got a little expensive when gas prices were really high, but not expensive enough to change my ways.

I'm going back again in about a month and now I'm second guessing renting a car. I'm mostly going to be just in the immediate are of my hotel and I can always give my friends gas money to drag me around if we go out or anything.

I drive a big rig, so I hate having to slow down so much! My momentum, wah! D: Not to mention people seem especially terrible at merging on them. People who can't merge are one of my biggest pet peeves.

I would advocate walking, because I love me some walking, but Tucson isn't really made for pedestrians. My neighborhood doesn't even have sidewalks. u__u Silly Tucson. Having friends drive you is probably the way to go.

Ahahaha, I live in Dallas too and the crazy overpasses makes driving with my sister a real experience (she gets extremely frustrated when she gets lost....she gets lost a lot)
