The majority of the characters I care about are in their 30s and up. So general virginity doesn't come up often, but I don't have a problem with it if it's believable. And I get that depicting them with a lack of experience is an easy way to stay true to a canonical history of heterosexuality. However, it's usually the case that at least one could be realistically written as already knowing they're bi/gay (and having acted on it or been out in the past or had some of the common experiences people have in the gay community, which I think is what OP was referring to when they mentioned histories). I just personally prefer reading about that over it always being two late-in-life lesbians/gay men.
