How awesome is Jennifer Lawrence?

Jennifer Lawrence is someone that I never really gave any thought to, beyond not caring half a crap about the Hunger Games and being kind of irritated by what was it's heavy presence.

But since seeing her post-Oscar Q&A, which is hilarious and awesome, and this story and video about the Kentucky neighbor friend with Down syndrome who she still keeps in touch with, I kind of like her. Maybe even enough to see The Hunger Games (and all the other things she's been in but I haven't seen).

No, she's totally awesome. I mean, with all the caveats about celebrity culture and all that (I'll omit all the pretentious pontificating b/c I'm tired as hell), but as celebrities go, she's totally awesome. She seems really legit and she's consistently hilarious.

She's adorable isn't she? I embarrassed myself watching the Oscars with my Mom's friends, I get so excited about her. You should watch her recent Conan appearance too!
If you're opposed to The Hunger Games (which I enjoyed but probably isn't everyone's thing) I recommend Winter's Bone, the role she got her first Oscar nom for.

The only thing that really turns me off of the Hunger Games is what I gather to be an inevitable love triangle and angsty teen romance blather. I'll definitely look more into Winter's Bone, though. A quick IMDB says it has Garrett Dillahunt, too, who I've liked (and been kind of weirded out by) since The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Oh in that case you should try THG. I never read it don't think I could have bought the premise in a book, but it was an enjoyable movie if I didn't think too much about the world building. I don't think there was much (or any) angsty teenage romance. Just a lot of violence and Jennifer Lawrence being riveting.

It was just a popcorn movie though. I feel like I'm still processing Winter's Bone. I hope you enjoy it!

the love triangle was, thankfully, not all it was cracked up to be. I'm preetty oblivious and didn't register it as a love triangle at all, but the romance was pretty small even for shipper eyes
