I have no idea what show this is, but - I'll happily ship people who are related but weren't raised together (and conversely am squicked out by ships where the characters aren't related but were raised together). So yeah, I don't think there's anything weird about continuing to ship it.

I've always been baffled when people think the other way around; um, how you were raised to think of and love each other is what counts, surely??? D:

to me what is really incestual about incest are the feelings and established personal dynamics, not so much the blood connection

is it a cultural thing or something what am I missing

I think the problem is that people start bringing in genetic logic, which is really no relation to emotion anyway. I tend to think the arguments about the genetics of incest are a false argument because of what you say - it's really about the emotional factors.

I also have trouble seeing why people can't tolerate incest pairings where the two people were raise apart. The emotional issues are totally different.

But then I have always been able to separate my thoughts on issues in fanfic from my thoughts on those same issue IRL. Fanfic incest =/= RL incest.

Except Diana is so damn bitchy and "Get away from me" and high and mighty for so much of the show when it comes to Cassie. Suddenly everything wrong with Diana's life is all Cassie's fault, and how dare Cassie want a chance to know who her supposedly dead father is? How dare she want to find a way to save them all from excruciating death with a method that isn't Diana-approved? The writers took Diana in this entirely different direction from who she is in the books (not that the plot didn't go completely away from it either, but ... ) so that I just can't see them even being friends, let alone anything else.

Have you read the original trilogy? I can totally see the shippiness of them if you've read the trilogy and held on to it coming into the show, but as they are in the show? (Totally ignoring the incest part of it because, yeah, I don't do incest at all.)

First: SECRET CIRCLE SECRET!!!

Second: I still ship it. I ship all the TSC girls with one another, though Cassie/Diana isn't my favorite ship and wasn't even before the reveal (that'd be Faye/Melissa or Melissa/Diana). That being said, my shipping tends to extend to talking about the show with people who've watched it and imagining vid scenarios I never get around to so it's not like I'm helping with fandom at all

Third: If you haven't, you should read the books. Cassie/Diana is so incredibly close to canon in the books (Cassie spends a large chunk of her time thinking about how beautiful/perfect/wonderful Diana is and they feel like they've got this special connection from the moment they meet. It's awesome.)

And...I just realized I don't have SC icons on DW :(

people are always extremely squicked by incest. if you want to ship it, you've got to learn how to ignore it. it's the only way to keep fandom enjoyable, i think.
