Yeah, Kpop fandom is full of terrible people saying terrible things. I'm not really a SNSD fan, and I feel bad at the crap those girls get.

I'm a casual Kpop fan who hasn't been to the fandom spaces, and I just...completely don't understand all these things I hear about Kpop fans. What could possess someone to say this kind of thing about a bunch of girls singing and dancing to entertain people? Like, what could they possibly have done for people to react like this? (the answer is nothing because people who say these things are bananas)

Honestly, it's the fans and antis in Korea that are really bad. I...just don't get it. I'm not a SONE by any stretch of the imagination, but good heavens, they shouldn't have to deal with that.

But K-netizens are the ones who hate a little seven-year-old girl for "forcing cuteness" or some BS like that, and started a petition for Jay Park to commit suicide when all the drama about him leaving 2PM happened. Completely crazy.

Part of the fun of kpop fandom is hating on your groups' rivals for some people. I'm pretty loyal to my bias groups myself, though I don't take it any further than that.

I'd like to think reasonable people would handle that in a sense of "there's rival group, they suck! let's not go to their shows and talk about how my group is better on message boards" rather than, you know, "I hope rival group dies so they stop stealing all the attention".

Even I can tell how naive that sounds though. Oh internet :(

It's a group dynamic kind of thing. If the space is already aggressive and people egg each other on, most people check out their common sense at the door.
