I presume, from the poster, this movie is not about furries, but about zoophiles. Furries might freak people out, but at least the objects of their fetish are people, not animals.

Technically humans are animals. But that's not what we're talking about. A furry is still a person, in the same way an sapient alien is a person.

This is a far cry from non-sapient animals.

Not to mention furries are fictional.

Yes, this. Unfortunately, the OP seems to conflate furry-fans and zoophiles. It's possible '[I]f you think lowly of the fur community' was a separate thought from the zoophile reference, or that 'the fur community' is something zoophiles have started calling themselves, but if the former, it's a horribly written sentence, and if the latter... It's still pretty much conflating the two by stealing the name. :p

They're people in almost every way.

Just with ears and fur, and occasionally a different face structure.

But overall they're people + animal bits for flavour, rather then the other way around.
