I have a feeling that there's going to be some *big reveal* regarding Rakuzan's #5. I just find it too suspicious that he managed to appear in one whole match on the same team as Akashi without even being named, while someone who only replaced Kise for about half a match is given not only a name but also basic starts.

b!s: my crackpot theory is that he's got a similar ability to Kuroko's misdirection, which explains why it's seemingly normal that no attention is paid to him (the reason didn't come up in the semifinal match because Akashi wants to hide this fact until it really needs to be used)

s!b: there's next to (no)? chance of a theory this ridiculous becoming canon
He's most likely gonna turn completely unimportant after all anyway

You're not the only one OP, I've seen a few other people raise this possibility. In fact, I would take it a step further: #5 is not only Rakuzan's secret weapon, but he's also Coach Shirogane's son. Why? Because I think it's a waste to use a "color" name (Shiro=White) for just a coach.

Interesting theory, OP!

I can't wait to see how it all plays out in the final match. But of course, we have the Shuutoku vs Kaijou match first (I hope it's not reduced to almost nothing, I want to see some Midorima action)

Fleshing out side characters is not one of this canon's strong suits, unfortunately. Would be interesting though.
