Know who should have been a Slytherin? Percy Weasley. Ambition was his key characteristic, and his plotline consisted of the struggle to reconcile those ambitions with his family. Would have been interesting.

I feel you. This secret single-handedly resurrected a dormant plot-bunny about the famous "Muggle-born Weasley cousin who ends up in Slytherin" that was supposed to show up in Book 4 and got cut - and I really have no time to chase after it!

I always wondered why he wasn't. Only explanation in-universe I can think of is the Sorting Hat wanting to put him in Slytherin and him not wanting to, quite like Harry. Except I think Percy's reasons had more to with family tradition etc.

Yeah, lets face it when it comes to Slytherin V Gryffindor the Malfoys and the Weasleys are mirror images of each other. They are both screwed up bigoted dicks, but in opposite directions. Even if a miracle happened and Slytherin became the "good" house full of sweetness and light sufficient to make Elmo and Big Bird retch, the feud would go on both between the houses and the families because the are both dicks and dedicated to raising the next generation to be prejudiced dicks against the other.

The wizarding world is basically the Hatfields and McCoys only with wands instead of shotguns.

I really don't see how the Malfoys being prejudiced against the Weasleys for being poor blood traitors is the same as the Weasleys being prejudiced against the Malfoys for being snobby blood purists.
