The fact that they are robots doesn't do that?

(Anonymous) 2013-03-05 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
Obviously not, duh.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-05 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
GPP by Sirius Cybernetics. It's the only way to build a robot. And then they can throw the marketing people against the wall first when the revolution comes.

Have you even seen the show?

Or any other incarnation of Transformers for that matter.

*is still gleeing that Rewind/Chromedome is canon*

you aren't ready to fully accept it yet, but your brain LIKES the contrast.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-05 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
I can't read human features that well, let alone robot features. I have no idea what that picture says about his feelings.

I love it when some people ship it so seriously that they start telling everyone it's actually a consensual bdsm relationship

And by love it I mean give up a little more on humanity

Man, I could have written this secret. (Except with not quite as strong a wording, "disgust" is not how I'd put it...) Somehow, for just this pairing, the "sekritly in lurve with each other" trope totally does it for me, but it involves destroying every opinion I hold about their relationship in canon. It's weird.

Brains try to render scary and unpleasant things less so by fluffyizing them. Happens with every bad guy painted woobie in fanfic.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-05 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
Yup. When I was a kid, my mother let me watch The Exorcist for reasons I can't understand, and it scared the crap out of me. My response was to imagine the demon as actually being a rather silly chap who was able to be recruited into a superhero team as the comic relief.

Hoooooly crap there's a special brand of cray cray in the Transformers fandom that is the Meg/SS shipper.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-05 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
This may sound shallow, but one of the reasons I dislike Prime is how I just can't ship Starscream and Megatron. It really just doesn't work...

Maybe you're just one of the many people who like the pairing because of how fucked up it is?

It's a really popular pairing. (It might be a good idea to stop being so disgusted; you'll see it everywhere)

(Anonymous) 2013-03-05 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
Starscream codes female to me (despite being a robot with no actual gender), and I simply can not ever even think about that kind of relationship with a woman in the position he often ends up in without becoming irrationally furious and just a little sick.

Even when it's said jokingly, it just strikes a nerve.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-05 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
That is fair enough, the creators have said that in the TFP incarnation he is supposed to be the 'Cons equivalent of Arcee.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-05 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not even IN the Transformers fandom, and your secret made me want to read this ship. Er. Villain/second-in-command is one of my narrative kinks? Anyway, it's okay, op. Liking a pairing and thinking the people who insist it's secretly canon are annoying aren't mutually exclusive.

Meh. Love isn't always nice. They're deeply enmeshed with each other, and there's an erotic element to it.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-05 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
Skyfire x Starscream forever

(Anonymous) 2013-03-05 07:01 am (UTC)(link)
Skyfire/Silverbolt, for great justice!

Depends of when in canon it occurs. I can see hate for most of S1, followed by disgust after Scream's attempted defection and abandonment, but by the end of S2 it is quite clear that while there is contempt in large quantities still Megs knows he needs Scream (and has canonically said as much) and there is a tiny amount of respect within the contempt.

I can never see love though. That might be because of all the hate sex he has with Orion Pax while trying to hide that affair from Soundwave.

The defection was such a wasted opportunity, I'd have loved to see Scream as a 'bot even if it was just for a couple of episodes. Then they went and spoiled it by having Arcee pull the old "killed while attempting to escape" trick on him. Way to character assassinate Arcee with her using a villain trick too guys.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-05 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
They're robots, dude.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-05 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Stupid, sexy robots

Considering how young the aimed audience is, I'm not surprised that there would a lot of that. Just find an author(s) who doesn't fall into that and stick with them?
