Eh, I'm behind on DwD, but I could see it happening if she really grew/warped from everything happening to her. It would be a really nice character arc. And Rickon is younger, even if he is male. It could be that by the end of the day, Sansa just commands better.

The North is very old-fashioned. I really don't see them accepting a woman leader when there are two trueborn male heirs (and one older bastard heir that could be legitimized) out in the world. Sansa would have to either suffer through all of her siblings besides Arya dying (and are people really hoping for that?) or become a Dany-style warrior queen who uses sheer power to break the rules. I don't see that happening either, at least not without it being incredibly OOC.

I know people want good things to happen to their faves, but honestly, I don't think ruling ANYTHING is a good thing for Sansa. She should be Lady of Riverrun and live a life of leisure, far from anything having to do with the game of thrones.

Remember, they don't know Bran and Rickon are alive, and Bran is likely effectively dead anyway what with being a time-traveling tree person now and all. Not to mention whatever the hell is going on with Jon. So, actually, Sansa is currently next in line for Winterfell and is likely to remain that way unless Rickon suddenly gets hoisted forward, which admittedly is the most likely possibility given that there is a reason he's hiding out on cannibal island.

...Except that Rickon is also probably pretty insane now, so there is that.

Basically, I'm not really a huge proponent of Sansa as Queen in the North, but I don't think it's as unlikely as you think it is.

...this is the strangest, most wonderful spoiler I have ever experienced.

Oops. On the bright side, I'm pretty sure I'm safe in thinking you have no idea what that means, y/y

(Anonymous) 2013-03-05 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
Correct! I have no clue. And...no need to "oops" as I always comes into these threads fully expecting to be spoiled in some way.

In a way I don't think it's that much of a spoiler in that it's a situation where you really have no idea what's happening right up until the moment you're like "...okay, so... time-traveling tree person."

... Time-traveling tree person? How does that work??? I am intrigued (and don't mind being spoiled in more detail if you don't mind sharing).

Bran went north of the Wall where he met with this creepy magic dude called Blood Raven and like... creepy magic stuff happened and Bran sort of could see through the eye of the weirwood in Winterfell's godswood except he could see throughout time. Like he wasn't bound by time. Like he saw Ned praying at the weirwood when Ned was a young man.

What Karen said, but then also Bloodraven has basically like turned into a tree after all his years being this magic warging tree dude and it implies pretty heavily that Bran is destined for a similar fate.

I don't like Sansa much at all, really. I don't see anyone getting what's good for them at the end of this mess. But Sansa, I think, is the one who will learn to play the game of thrones best.

I agree with everything you said there

There's the whole Asha and Theon thing...

(I just started SoS, so no spoilers plz, but it seems from where I am that Asha has a chance of becoming the Greyjoy heir because she's both older and also much more capable than Theon, and more in touch with her family and culture. I'm rooting for her tbh. Theon is butthurt and he can just cry moar)

Yes, but the Ironborn do things differently from all other kingdoms in Westeros. The Ironborn could accept Asha if she proves the toughest warrior around.

It's different with Sansa and Winterfell.
