...Because they're a fan of the show and they might consider Pegasister too unwieldy a term?

I never said anything about using Pegasister. I just was wondering why you'd want to use a fandom term for yourself that has the connotations 'Brony' has garnered. It's totally up to OP, but yeah. I'd just call myself a 'fan' if I were in that position.

So...merely saying your a fan of MLP is too out there or something? Seriously, not every fandom needs a cutesy little nickname. Especially a nickname that was made for the sole purpose of going 'look at me! I like a little girls show and I'm a duude!'

'look at me! I like a little girls show and I'm a duude!'
If only bronies were also usually derided for being just like the derided gamer girls.

That's...a remarkably good analogy.

(Especially since both groups have sane and annoying components. Though the "gamer girl" group ime stops at annoying while some of the worst bronies can be downright toxic.)

WHY CAN'T WE JUST ALL LIKE EVERYTHING and stop making fandom so gendered

this honestly seems like a REALLY silly reason to me.
