IA. I mean, it's probably about average quality-wise, but it has a little bit of everything of new Who: Ridiculous-looking aliens being treated and taken totally seriously, rather anvilicious social message that's kind of endearing in its honesty, lots of epic Time War angst, goofy monsters that manage to be kind of scary anyway because they're not wrapped up with all that trendy medium-awareness, the Doctor being a complete awesome lunatic and talking about all kinds of hilarious shit, really sincere emotional moments all about big ideas like the human spirit and whatnot portrayed with a lack of irony that's rare on TV nowadays, really memorable one-off and supporting characters, companion being a BAMF and not letting the Doctor act all too-cool-for-school.

And then there's that scene where the Doctor's carhopping between all those different what-crack-were-the-writers-smoking-anyway-can-I-have-some slices of life, just to drive all that scope and inventiveness home.
