I've been an MLP fan since childhod and yes, I do care about the fact that "bronies" needed a special word to separate themselves from the rest of the fandom.
Whenever I've talked to such "bronies" IRL they were super nice to me when I said I liked Friendship is Magic, but became really mean spirited when I remarked that I also really enjoyed G1 and G3...

That's why I started to avoid people who use that term to describe themselves. It screams too much of "look at me, I'm special for liking MLP - but no, wait! I mean the GOOD show. Not the shit that came before it. Everyone who likes that is a girly pussy and probably a faggot, haha! Love and tolerate!"

Does "pegasisters" bother you, or just "bronies"?

I've never heard it specifically used in tandem with having disdain for early generations. Personally I don't love them but I don't care if other do. I'm sorry you've had that experience, at any rate. Dealing with judgmental jerks is never fun.

NYART, but I suspect it doesn't simply because it's not as widespread as "bronies".
