Investing yourself in what strangers think of a label that isn't important in your life, yet serves as the banner for a bunch of nasty people is really rude of you.

Use it, don't use it, whatever, but coming up to people and demanding they explain themselves when they could well have been victims of those nasty people is really obnoxious.

It's not about you or whatever friends you have until you make it about you.
