;_;

I feel this, so I enjoyed reading it in a bittersweet way. I'm glad you shared it.

I had a friend a lot like this once too--someone I really trusted, and who I could still share a lot of silly fandom things with too. But then we had a falling out, and I haven't heard hide nor hair from her since. It's been close to ten years now, and I still wonder what happened to her and how she's doing now.

So believe me, OP, I know what it's like. I hope that someday, whenever that might be, you can reconnect with your old friend.

Same thing happened to me. The last thing my friend wrote to me was, "See you tomorrow!" I hope your tomorrow comes and you find each other again, even if you don't really recognize each other anymore. It's terrifying to not know if someone's okay.

Losing friends sucks, especially when it's a surprise.

There was one person I knew online from ~2005-2007, who was pretty much my best friend fullstop for a few periods in there, and I still wonder what she's doing sometimes, and if she even remembers me. I certainly think about her as much as I do the other friends I fell out of touch with at around the same time.

IDK what to say other than *hugs*.

Aw I feel you, OP. I used to have friends online, but they all dissapeared. I just semi-keep in touch with one, whenever I can.

By any chance, do you know if you could PM them or something? Maybe you'll get lucky and it'll reach their email.

I hate it when people disappear.

I've lost a lot of people this way, and I wish I could just get one update from them. Just to know that they're doing okay now. Even if they're not in fandom any more. Even if they're different people now.

I feel trapped in the past with them, even though their worlds have moved on without me.

Oh, I feel the same way with my real life fandom friend. I first met him in high school being bullied by other classmates just for writing original fiction in his notebooks, and I've been defending him and being his friend for over 5 years. Now that I'm in Uni, I always wondered where did he go. Has he written more original fiction yet? Is he okay wherever he is? I wish I know what happened to him.

:( This is heartbreaking, but very sweet. I hope you hear from your frined again someday.

Ugh, I know exactly how this feels. It really sucks, and you have my complete sympathy. I hope one day you can reconnect with your friend.

I remember an RP I was in a while back. My character was defined as being in one-sided love with a girl who had gone missing, and was desperate to find her. Someone decided to play as the girl, and when our characters met again, I played the role so well I started to actually feel something. Then one day she, well, went missing--she said she'd talk to us the next morning, and we never heard from her again. I just couldn't keep playing after that. Another player quit for unrelated reasons, so the entire RP went on permanent hiatus.

*hugs*

Same here. The person who introduced me to anime and manga disappeared a few years ago. I was so happy when she resurfaced briefly, but she's poofed again, and ... yes, I worry.

Aw. :( I feel you. A friend who I felt very close to disappeared from the 'net just recently, though this has happened more than once (and I did the disappearing as well). I understand how it is, but I still wonder sadly what happened to some of the internet friends I lost contact with.

I had a good fandom friend disappear like that six or seven years ago. I just hope she's okay.

is this about a certain seagull?

(Anonymous) 2013-03-06 10:49 am (UTC)(link)
sa - if it is about this person, I was friends with her too and I may've vanished from her life. I still think about her too.

I had a falling out with almost all of my fandom friends around four or five years ago. I was going through a hard time and pushed all of them away. A few of them are on facebook, but I don't really talk to them anymore (one of them we talk during NaNo, but that's about it).

I still miss them. I wish I we could repair what I've broken. =(

my best friend online disappeared just like this and I have no idea what happened to her. we did not have a falling out or anything.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-06 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I hate that. There's a few I've tried to find IRL, but even when I think I have found them, making contact feels weird because I wonder if they actually wanted to be found.

I had a good fandom friend for a while who couldn't IM anymore because she got grounded, and then moved to Japan. I tried IMing someone I thought was her a while ago, but either she didn't remember me or I had the wrong IM name. I'm hoping it was the latter.

So very common a feeling

[personal profile] raspberryrain 2013-03-06 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Hasn't practically anyone who's been in fandom a long time felt this way?

There are probably people who feel that way about me!
