Well, it would be less ridiculously complicated and silly-looking than most of the character designs since... let's just say since the series hit double digits.

It's too well-designed and coherent of an outfit for a Final Fantasy game

Yeah, I have to agree with everyone else. It's a really neat outfit, and with a few minor tweaks it could be a really nice and eye-catching design.

But modern FF loves to forgo most of the rules of character design and just goes for the flashiest shit possible. She'd be better off in another RPG, if not another genre altogether.

Meh, no worse than superheroes deciding en mass to wear their jockey shorts on the outside. Fantasy costumes are allowed to be ridiculous. FF's distinctive brand of whack makes its cosplay so much fun.

Final Fantasy has one up on comic books for me. I prefer the improbable costumes with stuff added on than the improbable costumes with pieces cut out.
