Because you can't ever just enjoy mindless television when you want to switch your brain off, amirite? I mean, it's so much better to be a constant ball of hatred and anger all the time because society fuckin' sucks and you can't do a fuckin' thing about it?

I don't like Family Guy anymore, but I will watch an episode of American Dad if nothing else is on because there are some parts of it I find funny. Some parts I roll my eyes at, and some I laugh at.

Because if I didn't I would probably blow my brains out from being so fucking angry at society all the time.

Accurate view of OP there, way to go.

I don't agree with the OP, but it's not like this is an all-or-nothing thing. Not being able to enjoy a particular show or type of humor because you feel it's sexist isn't the same thing as being a "constant ball of hatred." Different people just have different levels of tolerance, and different tastes.

There are things I don't want to watch because they bother me. I can't just turn that off, and forcing myself to watch them would be the opposite of enjoying mindless entertainment.

Like I said, I disagree with the OP. But saying that people who can't enjoy something because it bothers them are just being too angry at society is also too extreme of a judgment to make.

+1

Except OP didn't say they can't enjoy that show. OP said you can't watch that show and be a feminist.

Yes, the OP says that. I was talking to the person I replied to, who was suggesting that people who can't enjoy something because they feel it's sexist are angry at the world or lacking in the ability to have fun.

Yeah, pretty much this. Plus, American Dad has a lot of other things to laugh at that aren't sexist.
