So, who's doing it? Who loves it/hates it? Funny way to pass the time or procreation of all that is wrong with fandom?

No LJ in my country because of Russian controlled media but am cyrious what it is about

Basically it is a massive all out war of character vs. character in various fandoms until only one survives.

Last year Leslie Knope of Parks and Recs won.

So mostly an excuse to spam the hell out of gifs of your favorite shows/character. Or bash the hell out of characters you hate.

Yesss. Not gonna lie, I'm crazy jealous over some of the stanning posts. It's not just the gifs, some people put together seriously awesome promotion posts, like the Donna stans last year.

They really do it is amazing. I am not that invested in any character for that.

But, I have my folders ready and am already saving the hell out of the gifs in the show pimping post lol.

I usually do it but I have issues with their magical pre-picked list. I figure all should be voted on period just not what the hell you all think should be there, but I'm not running it so...

If you're talking about the pre-picked fandom you might want to check back this year. The new mods left two slots open in each category, and right now people can nominate whatever fandoms they want. The fandoms with the most vote will join this round.

yes I know this is the first year for that. which is something, but I still never understood why it can't just be all the top voted fandom instead of here we are using these and don't be pissy about it we run it so deal with it

Characters win, not fandoms. This is just the fandom picking round. Last round Leslie Knope won, the round before that was Abed Nadir.

I've liked it in the past, but I'm not sure about the new "can only be from series/movies that were out/still going in 2011" thing. I mean, I get that there were a couple years there where it always seemed to come down to the same handful of Buffy/X-files/whatever characters, but I think that's a better reason to maybe retire a show from the game for a few years.

But as it is, there's a lot of stuff I don't recognize there. Also, I'm irked that Teen Wolf is in the "Teen" category and not the sci-fi/fantasy category. I guess it could go either way, but still.

There are a few in the Teen category that I don't get, especially since I could see all CW shows being Teen, but they have Arrow and SPN as Sci-fi.

And HP I would definitely call Sci-fi not Teen.

I kinda like the 2011 thing though, not sure why.

I'm not terribly invested in it, but I'll participate. Of the existing bracket I'm for Archer, Fringe, Elementary, and The Hour. On the noms, I only care that Bomb Girls makes it to drama (even though it will never win ;___;).

I'll be gunning for Elementary, too!

Haha, I want Southland to make it to the drama bracket so bad, but I know that it won't. I guess it's a good thing that most shows I care about are already on the bracket, I suck at this campaigning thing.

I find it really fun, but I tend to get a bit burned out by the end every year. But it was nice, I've participated for two years, and Troy won the year I was really into Community, and Leslie won the year I was into Parks and Rec. I hope it continues to conform to my fandoms and have Elementary!Sherlock or Joan Watson win *crossed fingers*

My money is on Joan cause the Lucy stans are fierce.

All I want is for Sherlock and Elementary to end up squaring off against each other. Which round, I don't care.

The hate already over the braces this year is wow. But I kind of agree. They said they wanted to put in smaller fandoms so the same old wouldn't be put in. But they put in a bunch of crap that the ratings are non existent on.

They left out the biggest fandoms in all the categories so the voting for those last two spots seem pointless, because those will be the ones to take the spots. So really what the hell point did any of it have.

Just a fake act to be like we get a say in what shows battle. SMFH

I think I'm skipping this year all together because I'm insanely pissed now and the massive character bashing hasn't even started yet.

Put me down for standing for everything bad in fandom at this point.

Maybe I just have a bad attitude this year. I used to love march madness. Now just looking at the post and the comment has me in a rage.....maybe I've gotten to old and bitter for fandom anymore.

Bit of all that, I guess. I'm definitely less excited about it this year, though. 'Course, I'm just glad somebody stepped up about the flashing text. I didn't want to say anything and then be labeled THAT PERSON, but I voted early and intended not to go back because holy fuck. Giant flashing text, all so close together just kills me.

But then curiosity about how votes were going got the better of me, and I was glad to see all text static.
