...I'm not sure what she's good at, actually, because her actual writing is Not All That. The very first sentence of that book has awkward-as-hell construction and wouldn't have been hard to fix.

Good at marketing, maybe.

She wouldn't be in charge of her marketing. She's obviously good at writing shit people will pay to read (see: Stephenie Meyer). That's actually harder than people think it is.

That particular book is self-published. So, yeah, she actually is in charge of her own marketing.

And just because people will read it, doesn't mean it's actually good. See: Stephanie Meyer.

LOL, fair point.

'cause, yeah, I looked at the first paragraph in this book (thank you, Amazon) and thought "yup, looks like an unedited first draft."

And, you know, it might be okay, but when I'm sitting there re-writing every sentence in my head so it flows better, I'm not going to sit through enough of it to find out. More power to her if she can attract readers with it, but damn, woman, have some pride in the craft? Please? For the sake of my sanity?
