Anon hasn't had much time to participate in the comm much lately, so she has only just saw it.

There are only like seven responses, but most of them seem to involve people asking if their ex-girlfriend made the secret! Holy cow, what is it about this movie?!?!?

It is a good movie. (And based on a true story, I think.) You should watch it.

OP of question-

I probably will, based on your rec, but I don't think I've ever seen a secret where so many responders were attempting to ascertain if they knew the OP (for reasons other than fic, fandom popularity, etc). I was just wondering how common that is, or if it's something unique to this movie.

Yeah, I don't know. I don't think it's very common to question if the OP is an ex-girlfriend. I do think it has to do with the nature of the movie.

It is a true story. One of the girls is now the fairly well known crime writer Anne Perry, and I think the other lives on a farm somewhere, possibly with horses, and may or may not have been a nun? Idk, can't be bothered to look it up. But it definitely is true (and also a good movie).

When I saw it I was actually pretty young, but whenever I read this stories about people talking to the multiverse with their minds and having relationships with other people who are soulbonded to characters from final fantasy, I think about this movie.

To be fair, whenever there is a secret about a discontinued friendship that is vague enough, there are usually about 2-3 responses from people wondering if it's about them or relating a similar experience. And the movie portrays an extremely close and intense female friendship that ended in tragedy, so I guess a lot of people who've been a part of a dysfunctional couple can relate.
