Harry Potter immediately comes to mind. I absolutely loved the series up until the 5th book. It really went downhill starting from OoTP and then probably had one of the most disappointing endings of any books I've ever read. Granted, there were aspects I enjoyed of those later books, but they just could have been so much better.

I hate to admit it but I agree. Especially with Voldemort. He was hyped to be the baddest of the bad and when he came back all I saw was he simply a great big deal of red tape. I was expecting Hitler's Final Solution on all of mankind because, again, everyone couldn't even bring themselves to say his name. But, nope, we got bureaucracy.

I agree wholeheartedly.

The last book was so damn disappointing. I read it all the day I bought it, and at the end of it, I was like "this is what I stood in line for at midnight for?"

I was disappointed that they didn't foreshadow the Deathly Hallows better. Yeah, they mentioned that the Invisibility Cloak was unusual earlier on, but in general, it was never foreshadowed until the very last book.

I was disappointed that the final duel with Voldemort was so damn anticlimactic. After building up all that tension over the rest of the series, it seemed bizarrely easy in the end.

I also agree with Mekkio--they could have done the Death Eater Takeover a lot better.

The 6th book actually grew on me liked aged wine(well, I don't like wine but you get it right?). I really enjoyed the story for Tom Riddle and just all of it was super interesting when I started getting into the layers of the story(minus the Ginny crap). DH however, I still can't get over how bad the pacing was.

Actually, the 5th book was my favorite. I loved how dark it was. I didn't care for the final two, though, and overall, I thought the series was overrated. It was good, don't get me wrong, but given all the hype, I expected it to be, well, more.
