Spring Break

[personal profile] morieris 2013-03-08 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
I live in the self proclaimed Spring Break Crapital of The World, and someone has already died down here. Pity.

I'm never so sure why DROVES of people flock here anyway. Just for the beach? This coast is really long, guys, you can breach out.

The point isn't the beach. The point is going somewhere else where lots of people similar to you, and with the same mindset as you, are also going, so you have many people to drink with and have sex with.

I thought that's what college was for?

At least, that seemed to be the modus operendi at mine, but it was a state college, so... /shrug

Spring Break (at least of the mode OP is describing) is supposed to be a more intense, concentrated version of college. Like whiskey compared to beer.

Honestly they could have stayed at home/on their own campus for that. Would have been cheaper, anyway.

Eh, as long as they're having fun.

The point is to get away. Go somewhere different, meet different people, get lost in the crowd and the Spring Break atmosphere.

I am guessing Florida that or Tijuana.

But people go there because it's the stereotypically hyped place to go. It's for the same reason why when people want to gamble, they hit Vegas first despite there are other places in the country to gamble.

I just made a quick Google search. You live in Panama City?

I think most people flock to the town beaches because of all the amenities present nearby. You can't go to a restaurant after an hour of sunbathing if you did it away from town; well, you can but it's either going to be a long walk or an awful drive trying to find some parking space.

Unfortunately so.

Is it because of your job, or something else? Is there any chance of getting away when it happens?

It's just where I'm stuck for now...hopefully I'll transfer out in the fall, but for now I guess it's just stay in my house/around the big box stores on our side of the city.

I never went anywhere during spring break and I loved how quiet the campus was. I took the time to binge watch every show ever.
