I have a free Red Box rental -- help me pick!

(Anonymous) 2013-03-08 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
Should I get:
* Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter - I'm sure it's exactly what it sounds like

* Touchback - Dude goes back in time and gets the opportunity to be a football star or have the same injury that ends his career (guess which one he picks, I'm sure it won't be hard).

* Time Keeper -- Kid's movie where one kid gets sent back in time and the others have to save them before time everywhere goes all wonky or something, idk, I like time travel movies.

* 10 Years - Channing Tatum and other people go to their high school reunion, only to find out it's all still the same old shit. But Channing Tatum is just so pretty.

* Stolen - Nicolas Cage races through New Orleans to save his daughter

* The Campaign -- I hate Zack Galifianakis and and hot and cold on Will Ferrell, but this looks hilarious.

* Battleship -- Some people say it's not bad, despite it's stupid premise.

I have seen exactly one of those. The Campaign. It's really, really, really bad. I think I laughed once.

But you should probably also know that it's not really my type of humor. :)

Like the person above, the only one of those I've seen was The Campaign, and I also thought it was really, really stupid.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is the only one remotely interesting to me.

Get Stolen. It's a shame the title is so close to Taken, because other than being about a guy with a kidnapped daughter, it's nothing alike. And it's certainly better than Taken 2!!

That's good to know! I didn't get it this time, but I'll put it at the top of my list for next month.

Haven't seen any of those, sorry -- but Touchback apparently has Kurt Russell in it, so that gets my vote!

I hovered over that for a while while I was at the kiosk, but ultimately decided I needed a fighty action movie.

I've seen both AL:VH and Battleship. The first got a lot ridiculous and bored me, but the second really wasn't as bad as people say it was - decent action and effects and it was a fun watch.

Seen both too, agree with this assessment.
Idk, Battleship was just a stupid, fun movie but if it delivers on the fun, does it matter if it was stupid?

I enjoyed Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter. Book was a bit better, but if you like a good vampire action movie, this was pretty good.

I went with:

(Anonymous) 2013-03-08 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
Abe Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

I was kind of amused though, because there was a 2013 Hansel & Gretel, and for just a minute I was excited about it, but apparently a lot of people have made this mistake, because as soon as I clicked the button for it, a giant message popped up saying "Attention renters! This is not Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters!"

Oh, Red Box. Has your wide selection of ripoff movies come back to bite you in the ass?

I've only watched The Campaign and I laughed my way through that movie. But I wouldn't rec it for you, it's a very Ferrell movie.

Yeah, the only Very Will Ferrell movie that I've liked has been Blades of Glory. Couldn't even finish Anchorman, have no interest in Elf...I keep thinking I'll try some of his more dramatic turns, like that one where he sells all his stuff or the one where his life is narrated by an author, but I never do. Probably because I can't remember their names and don't care enough to look them up.
