I just realized what bugs me so badly when it comes to furry-art:

BREASTS.

If they're supposed to be so goddamn anthro-looking, then why do so many of the females have Pamela Anderson-type missiles?

just WHY? Is it for the sake of inevitable furry porn?

it's not just furry porn, it's because it's easier for a lot of the people who are into furry stuff to identify with vaguely humanish things (look at the robin hood / foxes thing, sure, maid marian doesn't have boobs in that but it's very clearly and obviously a more human body and form than like a fox

with anthro stuff, think of it as based more on HUMANS being modified to have animal traits like hair / ears / fur / claws as opposed to animals being human'd up, that'll be sort of why. anthro / furry =/= beastiality, basically, people who go for that aren't (generally) interested in animals themselves as much as what they symbolize and particular associations with and so on.

I'm pretty okay with furries and furry art (I mean, shitty people are shitty people across any category; same with cool people), but when it gets to nudes and porn and such it just baffles me for that reason

it totally breaks my suspension of disbelief

Because the only people who buy art are furries, and the only type of art they buy is porn of their characters, and there is a certain standard expected of porn females.

IDK I had a really good artist friend who needed money really badly, and so she went to the furry sites(like furaffinity or whatever) and she made like $300 in a week compared to the $25 in a month on dA. Her art on dA was really technically amazing and thoughtful pieces but she made so much money on the lines/fill in color crap she did for the furries.
They are just want the same "trendy" style so that their characters can be popular or wtfever.

Drives me nuts, too, and not only with furry art. Seems like every time there's a nonhuman female design, somebody feels a desperate need to staple balloon breasts on her without a thought for what breasts are actually for. If the species doesn't nurse young, they won't be there, and even so, probably really small.

But I try not to judge, because I do want nonhuman characters to have certain futures that appeal to me but are evolutionarily uncommon, like static bipedalism. Just, I'm not a boob person, while many - many, many - others are.
