I always thought his super-genius was sort of like how Wally West can run to the library and read a hundred books on bridges and architecture so he can rebuild a bridge within a minute or two, but he doesn't really retain the knowledge any longer than most of us remember a phone number. Superman can think fast and read fast, but genius isn't just about the acquisition of knowledge, but the application of. Batman may not be able to read the Encyclopedia in a minute, but he remembers it better and like Sherlock Holmes, knows how to access the pertinent information in his own mind, and how to apply it in creative or unexpected ways. Plus, Batman's just plain crazier than Clark, so he sorta can follow his villains' mad schemes a little better, or adapt to them more quickly.

Lois is awesome and Clark likes tough, competent, aggressive ladies. Some guys do. (Heck, knowing that he has the power to literally subjugate the world to his whims, maybe Clark just plain likes having a partner who takes the dominant role in their relationship a good portion of the time, just for a change.)

I always saw them as having different foci.

Superman is a scientist and quasi-engineer. He researches and experiments and develops new technologies. (Superman is canonically smarter than Batman btw)

Batman is an investigator and engineer. He applies the information, techniques, technology and information on a street level. This enables him to track criminals, predict their next move and be there to stop them. A very important skill set for a human superhero.
