The most horrific and prolonged torture happens to all the women Ramsay raped and murdered who don't even get names.

Theon is a major POV character. If say Sansa or Arya was raped repeatedly by Ramsay you can bet it would not be overlooked in favor of Theon.

But the secret poster didn't say "the most prolonged torture and rape that happened to a major POV character", they said "the most prolonged torture and rape". Which also happens to Jeyne Poole, and we get to see quite a lot of it through Theon's eyes. It's right there in the books along with his and yet... doesn't warrant mention in discussion about how rape is portrayed?

Actually, OP doesn't mention rape (I checked). Just torture.

And even then, Theon's treatment at the hands of Ramsay is far more horrific than Jeyne's. Maybe it would have gotten there had she not been rescued but at the end Jeyne is traumatized but Theon is a wreck of a human being to the point that his own sister doesn't even recognize him.

I'm not entirely sure you can say that's fact. Theon loses fingers; Jeyne has the skin of her back flayed off. Theon is castrated; Jeyne gets fucked by a dog/raped repeatedly by much older men, which often damages irrevocably young girls' genitals. Theon's emotional damage is likely permanent, but we don't know anything about Jeyne's emotional state. He buried memories, she might commit suicide.

I've seen people mention this often, but I honestly don't remember this happening. I thought Ramsay tried to get her to fuck his dogs, but it didn't take so he was particularly violent to her afterwards? Not that that's any better, but still.

Also, it's a bit presumptuous to assume Theon didn't suffer other forms of abuse (some more sexual in nature) than what was implied. Remember, he was kept as Ramsay's pet for a long time, and for him to have thoroughly broken Theon to the point where he forms a new personality leads me to believe all sorts of terrible shit could've happened. Also, the latest Stannis and Theon chapter that was released has Theon welcoming death easily, I'd say the emotional damage he underwent is irreparable going by that.

I don't have the books handy, but I pretty clearly remember her getting fucked by the dogs (and I don't think I'm imagining things, since so many other people remember the same thing). I'll have to look it up.

I'm not assuming Theon didn't suffer through more than what was implied - and what was implied alone is horrific. But what Jeyne suffered through was also horrific. Jeyne's suffering doesn't erase Theon's, or trump his, but Theon's doesn't erase or trump Jeyne's. They both matter. Theon's a POV character, I understand that his suffering will likely affect the reader more, but not mentioning Jeyne at all in these discussions and portraying Theon's suffering as objectively the worst when many of Ramsay's female victims were killed is... suspect.

Ah, I see your point. I think, besides the whole POV thing, Theon's torture gets mentioned more over Jeyne's because he's a rare example of a man being put in a vulnerable, degrading, and horrific position in a series where it's always women who have to endure that. It's not surprising an exceptional case gets more notoriety. Honestly this whole thread has made GRRM even more skeevy to me than he was before.

But obviously it's misogyny that we hear more about the POV character who gets tortured by Ramsay than the side characters who get tortured by him. Clearly. /sarcasm
