Favourite Accent?

(Anonymous) 2013-03-09 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
I'm a sucker for a Scouse accent personally. I do like Dublin accents (a lot of my family have it and I think it's lovely).

Please specify, like if it's American, which type, if it's British, which region etc :)

I dig a deep throat Georgia accent on a guy. Think Josh Holloway.

Ugh, I hope his new series gets picked up. His voice gets me all the time.

Usually I don't really care about accents but right now I have a bit of a crush on a guy who's originally from England (I'm not sure which part, though, I *think* he mentioned once that he's from London but I'm not positive) and I looooove his accent. I live in the southern US so his accent is completely different from everyone else around here, and he's almost old enough to be my dad and has a (totally bitchy) girlfriend so it's not like anything would ever happen, but I just love listening to him talk.

That scottish accent that I'm too ignorant to name properly. Y'know. The sexy one.

Accents with a drawl, like southern American accents.

Irish. All of them.

Glaswegian even though I can't understand a word of it unless it's been reined way back like for TV or movies, which sounds more to my American ears like the accent I heard in small stations in the extreme south of Scotland (10+ years ago, so not the most reliable memory).

I'm a bit of a sucker for Aussie and New Zealand accents myself.

My biggest weakness is a woman with a low-pitched RP accent. I'm aware that there are all kinds of class and colonial implications there with which a psychoanalyst could have a field day - but if Helen Mirren told me to go to war, I would, like.

Also Lowland Scottish accents and very Northern Ireland (like Antrim kind of area) slay me. Rural Yorkshire accents, too.

Ooh, me too, except gender doesn't matter and it doesn't have to be low-pitched. Just sort of ... controlled (it's hard to describe). Mmm.

Also:

I'm curious on the Dublin thing - would you make a distinction between the D4 accent (with their morkeshing degrees, roish?) and the Nor'-soider accent?

Question asker here!

I should have clarified, it's all Dublin accents that I like. Apologies for the delay in reply, I live in a silly timezone

English accent hands down. Of the London variety. :)

Scottish. Robert Carlyle when he's not trying to downplay it at all is my utter favorite.

Oh wait, I forgot another one: Cockney. LOVE Cockney. Don't find it particularly hot (although it can enhance the hotness of a character depending on the character's personality), but I love, love, love, LOVE hearing people speak it. I think I'm alone in this.
